Toothache begone!
I’ve been having a bad toothache for the last few months or so. It hurt bad when I drank cold water or just plain hurt. A little while back, I could feel a cavity on my top left wisdom tooth. At one time, part of the tooth chipped off.
Last night, I reached the breaking point. I was feeling so much pain, I couldn’t sleep at all. I decided not to go to work and made an appointment to see the dentist. They scheduled it for Friday, but that was no good. I asked if there’s anyway they could see me today and they were able to fit me in.
I haven’t gone to the dentist in at least 15 years. I was a bit intimidated since this is just a hole in the wall practice in Watsonville located in a shopping center. The dentist was this Filipino dude who had a very harsh accent. I could barely tell what the dude was saying most of the time. He said he’s surprised I only have that one cavity for not going to the dentist for so long. I asked about getting a mouthpiece since I grind my teeth at night, but the insurance won’t cover it and it would cost $300. Screw that, I think I’ll go to Big 5 and pick up a sports mouthpiece for $20. But he said my teeth weren’t all that bad in terms of being shaven down from the grinding.
Since the wisdom tooth that was hurting grew out straight, he said he would be able to take it out now. My other wisdom teeth grew out all crooked so I’m going to have to get those taken out elsewhere.
He was able to force the tooth out really fast. The only pain was the shots gave around it before he started. For the most part, all he did was force it out with a chisel looking thing. It came out in seconds.
