Stand By Me

Posted in All, Podcast at 12:06 am by Rodfather

.. I sang tonight. Got some shots in me. It’s a good thing I brought my cheap ass hybrid cam, so you can’t see anything. Neal (ya like Neal Diamond but she’s a chick) helped me out by singing along and I thank her for that.
Phony holmes were there cheering us on and waving a ‘Show Ur tits’ to throw us off. But of course, nothing can fade us singing such a classic song.
Go ahead, make fun of me.

Getting addicted to YouTube blogs

Posted in All at 11:10 am by Rodfather

I’m starting to get addicted to watching Youtube videos these days. Especially the daily video blogs some put up.
You can tell there’s really a sense of community between the vloggers who frequently post. A lot of times, there’s a video reply which makes interaction through video very cool.

Here are the YouTuber’s I’m subscribed to atm:

suttsteve – Strange but addicting to watch for some reason. I like his videos mostly because they are daily and short.

thewinekone – Comedy. A lot of his videos are very funny.

Blunty3000 – He is one of the more popular vloggers on YouTube. He’s pretty shameless, funny dude. I like how he gets the community involved in his blogs.

katz20two – Just started vlogging. She started off doing a tribute to Blunty3000. I like her style. She’s funny, smart, and I like her editing style.

ZenArcher – 50 year old dude who is a fulltime caretaker of his wheelbound mom. He posts daily and the substance of his blogs are at times very insightful.

Dead Car

Posted in All at 12:17 am by Rodfather

Well, my car overheated crazy today and I pulled over to a gas station to let it cool off. Added some coolant and after a good wait, I started to drive off again. Then crazy white smoke started coming out of the tailpipe. Fuck. I pulled over immediately and fortunately, I pulled into an auto repair place. So I dropped off the keys into the dropbox, grabbed my laptop, and headed off down the road. I called a cab at the gas station and that’s that. I noticed a car donation center across the street from the repair place and my car will most likely end up there. I’m pretty sure my engine is blown. I’m not going to put any money into this car so it’s finally time to get a new one. In the meantime, I guess I’ll be working from home until my brother comes this weekend to bring the pickup. I’ll be looking for a new car right away. I’ll most likely get a Subaru but we’ll see after I do some test driving.

Knowing I’m going to have to gather some funds, I logged into my Second Life account. I have about $200,000 in Linden cash there. I started in Second Life on launch day and while there, I made some decent virtual cash selling the Roach Coach, Pimp Wheel (a Big Wheel with gold rims), along with buying & selling land. These were vehicles I modeled and scripted. You can even drive them around.. we’ll in virtual space. The Roach Coach would give out tacos if you clicked on it. While driving, you could shoot tacos at people too.
Anyway, I haven’t been active in Second Life in some years now and all that virtual cash has just been sitting there. So just now, I sold it all back. For the current exchange rate, I was able to get $617.84 US Dollar for $200,000 Linden Dollars. I’m having that money sent to my Pay Pal account.

Monterey Obon Part 1

Posted in All, Podcast at 1:12 am by Rodfather

Some of us went to the Monterey Obon on Sunday. Right when we got there, all the food was gone. While I took some pictures, the others went to Burger King down the street to grab some food. Here’s some footage of the event. Dancing will come in Part 2.

Friday’s at Cabrillo Lanes

Posted in All, Podcast at 1:22 am by Rodfather

Friday night at Cabrillo Lanes. At the bowling alley that means it’s a $7 flat fee for:
– unlimited games
– 25 cent hotdogs, nachos, & sodas

Since I gradually became a regular, I was able to score a free stamp on my hand to show I was eligible for the 25 cent goods.
I bowled probably 5 games. Grubbed 2 hotdogs for 50 cents. My high game was a 189, but overall, I sucked. Once I got some beers in me, my body felt a little more relaxed and just tossed the ball without a thought and ended up hitting most of my spares.

Anyway, most important, it was karaoke night with Chris.
Every Friday he hosts karaoke night. His song list comprises of mostly country but a fair list of classics and pop.

It’s usually a mix of hicks with old & new school mexicans in the bar. The younger mexican chicks sing the latest KDON R&B hits while the hicks sing their regular country songs. For some reason, I feel really comfortable in that environment. It feels like family the way everyone treats each other.

Unfortunately, I didn’t sing tonight. I wasn’t able to drink enough to sing some Tony Bennett or John Denver like I did on previous Fridays. It wasn’t in the cards this night. There was this one chick who wanted me to sing ‘Hey Jude’ with her but that’s just sad.

On a side note, a gang of Mio’s were bowling tonight. Matt was there with Suzanne. Michelle showed up with her husband. She is currently in Michigan and running her own business. She usually comes back to town during July for weddings/funerals and for New Years. Their mom was hanging out watching. Even Walt, the local barber, was there giving tips to the youngins.

Back to Karaoke, here’s an exclusive uncut clip of the regular song Chris sings every week. Twice. I remember when he was first starting out. He sang that song on the first night when it was just a few barflys listening with no claps at the end. From then on, he never stopped. It’s known as the regular song that’s just expected. Now, he has a permanent 8×11 flyer perched on the wall announcing ‘Friday Karaoke Night with Chris’ and draws a decent crowd.

I will provide the lyrics for your convenience.

Artist: Cowboy Troy (f/ Big & Rich)
Song: I Play Chicken With The Train

Lyrics:

[Instrumental]

[Chorus - Big & Rich]
I play chicken with the train play chicken with the train train, uh hu hu uh hu hu,
You know that I play chicken with the train play chicken with the train train uh hu hu uh hu hu yea,

Hold ‘em up,
Here we go,
All the Hicks and Chicks feel my flow,
Big black train coming round the bend,
Go kid go tell you mom and them,
Chugg a lugga [3x],
Who? The big black train commin’ through to you boy you bell and bumped you head uh hu,
That’s what they said,
People say it’s impossible, not probable, too radical,
But I already been on the CMA’s,
Hell Tim McGraw said he liked the change,
That he likes the way my Hick-hop sounds and the way the crowd screams when I stomp the ground,
Now, big and black, clickty clack and I make the train jump the track like that,

[Chorus - Big & Rich]
I play chicken with the train play chicken with the train train, uh hu hu uh hu hu,
You know that I play chicken with the train play chicken with the train train uh hu hu uh hu hu yea,

From Miketickasin deep into your ear,
My voice I your choice that you wanted to hear,
So the boys make the noise when the buffalo roams,
Blast into me bones that you might have known.
She be riding into town like a desperado,
With a big belt buckle,
The Cowboy Dorado,
All over the World Wide Web you’ll see that low CDP on that MP3,
Speak clearly what I say so you comprehend in the name of Hick-hop radio tuned in,
Roaming like thunder on the scene,
It’s kinda hard to describe if you know what I mean.
I never claimed to be the hardest of the hard rock brothers,
But I’m booming at the box,
Skills got you jumping out your socks.
From Texas here I come movin’ your body with the base kick drum.

[Instrumental]

[Chorus - Big & Rich]
I play chicken with the train play chicken with the train train, uh hu hu uh hu hu,
You know that I play chicken with the train play chicken with the train train uh hu hu uh hu hu yea,

[Chorus - Cowboy Troy]
I play chicken with the train play chicken with the train train, uh hu hu uh hu hu,
You know that I play chicken with the train play chicken with the train train uh hu hu uh hu hu yea,

[Chorus - Big & Rich]
I play chicken with the train play chicken with the train train, uh hu hu uh hu hu,
You know that I play chicken with the train play chicken with the train train uh hu hu uh hu hu yea,

[Instrumental]

Huh, yea one time,
Get you some of that!

Get you some of that!

Hector’s Bakery Burrito

Posted in All at 3:25 pm by Rodfather

Aw fresh. Got a Hector’s Bakery burrito today. Super asada. The meat is a bit better than El Frijolito and the homemade torillas are awesome, but I have to give the edge to El Frijolito for the overall taste.

Chest pains

Posted in All at 11:12 am by Rodfather

I went to the doctor today.  The last few days, on the middle of my chest, right on the sternum, I was getting sharp pains.  It hurt when I moved in certain directions.
It ends up, I probably have this:

Costochondritis. In this condition — also known as Tietze’s syndrome — the cartilage of your rib cage, particularly the cartilage that joins your ribs to your breastbone, becomes inflamed. The pain from costochondritis (kos-toe-KHON-dri-tis) may occur suddenly and be intense, leading you to assume you’re having a heart attack. Yet the location of the pain is different. Costochondritis causes your chest to hurt when you push on your sternum or on the ribs near your sternum. Heart attack pain is usually more widespread, and the chest wall usually isn’t tender.

The doctor said it’s usually triggered after a flu or a virus but I don’t think I had a flu..
Anyway, I’m suppose to take  Advil or Aleve for a few weeks to reduce the swelling on the cartilage.

4th of July

Posted in All, Podcast at 10:18 am by Rodfather

I spent 4th of July at my brother’s place in San Jose. Over there you can’t get safe & sane fireworks so I bought some from home and brought them over. To my surprise, they sold snakes which I haven’t seen in years. The sparklers were still the crappy wood sticks that last 10 seconds though.
I took some video with my new camera, the Panasonic TZ-1.
