Me and my Blubaru
I love my car. I drove everywhere tonight.
I went to Cabrillo Lanes tonight. It was only an excuse to go take a cruise. Even when I went outside to take a smoke, I walked across to get a good view of my car.. just to look at it. It’s so pretty.
I had a few gin & tonic’s while there. I was one of the last people there hanging out before the doors were locked. Actually, I was the very last person there to leave the lot as I was taking my time to make sure I perfectly enter my ride, still getting used to the controls and all that.
That was around 10:00PM. Right now, it’s about 1:20AM. I took a long ass journey. About 3/4 of the time, I had a huge smile on my face.
I pulled out of the bowling alley, and took a right on to main street. I just felt so good in my ride. It was just another feeling beyond happiness to be cruising in my new Blubaru. I kept going… and going. I passed up main street. Took the highway, turned into the Buena Vista exit to take a left toward the dump. At that time, I took my Blubaru for a test. Going pretty fast on the winding roads and at times, screeching my tires, yet still feeling awesome control. Took a left on to San Andreas Rd and cruised… Took a right on to Beach Rd and headed toward Pajaro Dunes. Once I got there, turned around and continued all the way down until I hit downtown. I must have seen about 5 cops around that time. I ended up going down East Lake and stopping at the Villager. This is the end of the road bar in town. The one bar that closes the latest. Since you can smoke there, I had a few and a gin & tonic. I took my time. Someone had great taste and streamed about 3-4 songs of Marvin Gaye in a row on the jukebox. I was taping my feet, feeling the groove, and singing along while trying to finish my drink. I took off about 10 minutes later, back to the road. I took a right on to East Lake and then a left to Holohan. I wasn’t nearly done and took a right on to Freedom Blvd. I drove all the way through, listening to tunes I set up on my stereo. At that time, I was about halfway through my first mix CD. I drove all the way to Aptos, I turned a left to head on to south on Highway 1. I was just zoning then. Went all the way through Moss Landing and turned into Castroville. Past Castroville, I headed to Highway 101 where there’s that one road full of fields on either side. I had to take a piss badly and I pulled over on the dirt road not feeling any worry to my car since it can handle.. anything. I got back in, and headed north to Salinas. I turned on to Boronda road, took some lefts, and got back south on 101, back home. I took the San Miguel Canyon exit and cruised through the winding roads. I probably passed by 7 cops by now. The whole time, I had all my windows down and of course, my huge ass moonroof open. When it got a bit chilly, I turned on the heated seats. Around that time, with all the windows open, I was probably listening to Coldplay. Anyway, I then turned to that road that goes past the Pajaro Golf Course and then took a right back north on to the 1. Took Green Valley road and now I’m home.
I have to say, this was probably the most enjoyable ride I’ve ever had. I know I have to burn in my engine.. but there were a few times where I reved up past 4000 RPM. This car is just dope. I can’t wait to get back in it and take another cruise. The weird thing is, the fuel gauge is still 3/4 full. I felt I went everywhere and it didn’t even make a dent in my tank.
Tonight, I felt I was going more toward becoming of complete person. There was no worry in me. I felt I could go anywhere and wanted to. To have the moonroof open wide and blasting the tunes while having my arm out the window, is such a wonderful feeling.
Here are the pics I took earlier in the day.

Cal: [David and Cal Playing a video Game] You’re *gay* now?
David: No, I’m not gay I’m just celibate.
Cal: I think? I mean, that sounds ga- I just want you to know this is like the first conversation of like three conversations that leads to you being gay. Like… there’s this and then in a year it’s like, “Oh you know, I kinda wanna, ya know, get back out there but I think I like guys” and then there’s the big, “Oh I’m I’m a g-gay guy now”.
David: You’re gay for saying that.
Cal: I’m gay for saying that?
David: You know how I know you’re gay?
Cal: How? How do you know I’m gay?
David: Because you macramed yourself a pair of jean shorts.
Cal: You know how I know *you’re* gay? You just told me you’re not sleeping with women any more.
David: You know how I know that you’re gay?
Cal: How? Cuz you’re gay? and you can tell who other gay people are.
David: You know how I know you’re gay?
Cal: How?
David: You like Coldplay.

Do you remember that scene from the 40 Year Old Virgin? It pops in my head everytime somebody mentions Coldplay.
