Blubaru
I got a new car today. My very first brand new car! I’m really happy about it. It only has 100 miles so far.
I chose a blue Subaru Forester 2.5 XT Limited. I’ll call it my Blubaru. It’s dope. It’s expensive, but I got a pretty good deal on it. Around $1000 below invoice and 4.9% APR.
I’ve always wanted a Subaru for a the longest time. What enticed me was the All Wheel drive, reliability, good gas mileage, highest possible safety rating, and that nobody really has them. It’s unique in that it has a flat boxer engine which allows the engine to sit low, causing a low center of gravity; giving better handling and safety. The most intriguing aspect is that I always hear, ‘Once a Subaru driver, always a Subaru driver.’ The customer satisfaction rating is one of the best.
The last few years, I’ve been eyeing the Forester. It seemed like a good fit for me. I like the fairly small size, yet roomy interior. It’s a mini SUV in respects that it seats higher than normal cars, yet still drives like a car.
I first test drove the 2.5X Premium and it was cool. I liked the ride and it handled really well on the curvy mountain roads. One aspect I fell in love with right away is how super huge the moonroof is. It extends all the way to the passenger area.
I was interested in the LL Bean or XT trim though. There weren’t any LL Bean’s on the lot and there was only one XT, and it was in the showroom. I already knew they only had that one blue XT since you can look up the inventory online. The Santa Cruz Subaru people were very cool though. They weren’t pushy at all and ended up moving all the cars out of the showroom so I can test drive the XT.
Wow what a difference. This thing has some pep to it. When the turbo kicks in, it’s a very cool experience. I like the sound of the boxer engine too.
I was sold right away and started going forward to making a deal.
They originally offered about $1000 over invoice with a 7.5% APR but I brought a quote from carsdirect.com to give them an idea how much I want to spend and was set on having a low APR. I sent the sales dude back many times. Then the sales manager came out and tried to talk me into their price. I wouldn’t back down and gestured like I was about to leave, mentioning I can always go to San Jose instead of dealing with them. I also mentioned if they can take the price I wanted, I’ll make the deal right then and drive the car off the lot. So they finally gave in and felt I got a fair deal.
I’ll post some pics soon.
