Streaming Video

I’m trying to figure out what’s the best way to store and deliver videos. It looks like flash video files might be the most simple solution since PC & Mac’s both have the flash player in the browser and doesn’t use up a ton of resources.
I don’t really like how the Riva encoder is encoding the videos though. It uses ffmpeg but still looks like crap.
Flash 8 suppose to be compatible with this On2 VP6 codec, but you need commercial applications like Flash MX to encode video with that codec. Browsing around, people are saying it’s better than h264.. Eh we’ll just have to see if I can get a copy of Flash MX.

Another option is using quicktime. I would assume most people have quicktime installed for Mac’s and PC’s. I really don’t like it but it may be good if I make this blog a video podcast through iTunes. I would be limiting myself to little 320×240 videos but the quality won’t be so bad with the h264 codec.

Have you looked into On2 Flix Pro for Flash video? It has the VP6 encoder you're looking for.
